Step by Step tutorials
Step 1 : Draw Basic Outlines
Drawing a beard outline is a little easier, so you can use any method in which you are good, here I’m using free hand method to draw outline. You can use HB pencil or lighter grade pencil for this, also try to achieve maximum accuracy to avoid further trouble in shading.
Step 2 : Light shading/ First layer
After making the outline, will do light and plane shedding with the help of HB pencil, remember that the shading should be very light so that it can blend well, use back and forth motion for consistency. Blend with soft brush or cotton.
Step 3 : Darker shading/ Second layer
Using 2B pencil, we will now draw a lot of small lines in the direction of hair. Here you have to do shading lightly, there is no need to give pressure. If you apply pressure, then there may be a problem with highlight further. Lightly blend with cotton or soft brush.
Step 4 : Dark shading / Final layer
Now to make beard hair, I will use 4B mechnical pencil(0.5mm). You can also use wooden pencil by pointing them. You will have to thoroughly observe the reference and look at the beard hair to see where it is dark and where it is light. Lightly blend with cotton or soft brush.
Step 5 : Highlights
With the help of the tombow monozero eraser, we will make white small lines in the direction of dark lines where it is necessary to make the beard look realistic. Highlights can make your painting or drawing “pop” or “shining”.

Step 6 : Final Finishing
After doing all above steps , if there is a lack of some things or need to add something, then we fix it or do it, i.e. drawing some hair at the bottom of the beard, covering extra highlights, and blending if necessary.
